Match Your Strengths to the Employer’s Need

Before you start writing a resume or applying for jobs, evaluate what the market needs and what you have to offer, especially your strengths.  Take a day or two to make a detailed assessment of your work experience, skills, education, and technical skills.  Find 5-10 postings for the kind of jobs you will be pursuing.  Note what requirements are repeated as well as the kind of language used in the job post.  Use this information to craft a resume that will speak to the employer’s needs.  A resume that follows this model will show employers why they should take the time to interview you.  Know your strengths, and translate them into the employer’s language.  That’s the formula for writing a resume that will make your phone ring.
